Call and Response 2 with Angela Izzo
Call and Response 2 with Angela Izzo
In response to the COVID-19 crisis and public restrictions, Shoebox PR created a project for artists to collaborate from a distance.
The project guidelines:
• Artist no1 will create a piece of art and send a digital version of it to Artist no2. This can be anything. It can be poetry, it can be photography or video. It can be painting or drawing, collage or sculpture. It is about sitting down and being creative and interacting with someone.
• Artist no2 will then have 24 hours to create a response to it in any medium and with any tools available to them.
They will in turn send a digital version of it back to Artist no1 who will create a new work in response. There can be up to 28 pieces to your collaboration.
My collaboration with Angela Izzo was a back and forth of videos and I asked Angela to edit all of it into one big video:
For my portions, I used a variety of primitive editing techniques - grabbing screenshots of Angela's videos, sometimes editing them in Photoshop, sometimes in Procreate on my iPad, sometimes a combination. I then edited the animation on the iPad using the Momento app. (Procreate will record "in process" video, but it plays super fast. I was able to slow it down in Momento).
It was a learning experience, for sure!
And it all started with a video made from these three photos of tie dye on a skirt that I captured for the day job!
